“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.'”
– Proverbs 31:28–29 NIV

It has been an amazing week around our home. I am a teacher and my wife is a nurse, and this week just so happened to be Nurse and Teacher Appreciation Week. This month is great and we have felt appreciated as both of us were showered with gifts, food, and words of appreciation during the past month from our employers. This week concludes on Sunday with Mother’s Day, which has allowed me to think about all of the mothers in my life.
I think it is fitting that Mother’s Day be within the month as Nurse and Teacher Appreciation Week. I have been uniquely blessed that my mom, my mother-in-law, my wife, and her grandma are all nurses! Needless to say, if anyone gets hurt or needs to deliver a baby, they have got you covered! Check out my wife, mother-in-law, and grandmother below in a Nurse’s Week ABC News special:

Mothers As Teachers

Even though they might not all have the certifications to be a licensed teacher, all moms are teachers. From the moment their children are born, their influence is far above all others. Mothers speak encouragement, give us boundaries, and allow us to pursue our dreams. During all of that, they are helping their children with homework, laundry, cooking, and running kids around from one activity to the next. Some of these saints are also teachers during the day as well!
They do all of these things for us and don’t complain at all. Mothers love unconditionally no matter what their kids have done and that is what makes a mother so special. They love us for who we are despite the mistakes, we have made. They are a true image of Jesus who loved us no matter what.
Thank You
I am pretty lucky that I get to call all of these wonderful mothers in my life mom. I hope that all of the mothers out there feel extra special on Mother’s Day, but I hope it doesn’t stop there. Let’s try to celebrate these extra special superheroes all year long for the wonderful gifts they have shared with us while expecting nothing in return. Happy Mother’s Day!!
