Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant!

“Well done, good and faithful servant!”

Matthew 25:23 NIV

It’s official! You’ve completed your first year. Way to go! This is a fantastic time for you and a big relief knowing that all of that hard work, energy, prayer, and self-sacrifice have helped to shape some exceptional individuals this school year.

On these last days of school, spend some meaningful time with your students reflecting on the fun memories you all had together as a group. These end-of-the-year activities are helpful for students as many of them may not see a lot of their classmates over the summer. Have fun and enjoy the last few hours with your students. Walk them to the bus and give them a high five on the way out the door. They
deserve a break as well! Some of your students may be dreading summer break. Write down their addresses and send them a letter over the break to let them know you are thinking about them. That might be the thing that makes their summer.

End of The Year Items

Once students have left, remember to pack up things that you may want to take home over the summer. I label everything with my name, and room number on it as many schools do a big cleaning over the summer. This will most likely mean that your classroom materials may end up in the hallway for some time before they are finished cleaning. Take some time to visit with your colleagues, custodians, and administrators before you leave for the summer. Thank them for all of the support and encouragement they have given you over the year.

Relax! You Earned It!

It takes a village to raise a child as well as a new teacher! Well done this year. Take time to recharge, relax, and thank God for such a great year! This year may be over, but you have many more great years ahead! Will you be working this summer or taking it easy? Next week, we will look at some good side hustles that teachers do in the summer to make some extra money. Well done, good and faithful servant!
